"...it's a blessed thing to love and feel loved in return." ~Elizabeth Anne Bucchianeri
It is easy for us to love an animal...but what makes our relationship with animals so much more powerful is to know that they love us just as much, if not more, in return...and unconditionally.
Our featured Angel to "Fall in Love" with this week is "SUAGR". Sugar is a 1 1/2 year old spayed, female Rottweiler weighing in at approximately 80 pounds who, as a stray, found herself at no fault of her own into the shelter system here in South Carolina ultimately receiving a death sentence not only due to her misunderstood breed, but also because she is a large, black dog. What is wrong with a large black dog you say? "Black Dog Syndrome" is something to research. This syndrome is very real and ultimately leaves black animals in the shelter system on the chopping block due to the low interest in adoption. Being a rescue who is drawn to the "underdog" it is amazing animals such as Sugar that instantly capture our hearts and attention.
Sugar is a wonderful ambassador and excellent example of the Rottweiler breed. She is stunningly gorgeous, she is built strong, she is loving, she is gently, she is intelligent, she is loyal and her soulful, loving eyes just pull you in instantly. Believe or not this breed loves to not only receive love, but gives it back freely in return. You cannot help but wrap your arms around to hug and cuddle these majestic dogs just as you would your favorite teddy bear! This is what made us initially fell in love with breed when we started our journey 10 years ago...and is exactly why we are so in love with Sugar! Here is William pictured with Zeus, the Rottweiler who initially made us fall in with the breed (he belonged the shelter manager at the time and has since passed to cancer...we were there with him in his final days and moments...he was truly an incredible dog who touched our hearts.) and here is William with Sugar in present day...

Sugar is very loving toward people and will lean her head right against you when you pull her in for a hug. She loves to go for rides in the car (she also likes to hope into the bed of the truck we were are doing projects around the property), enjoys hiking on our property here with us and the other dogs, and playing with puppies we currently have available going through socialization and training. She also walks beautifully on a leash and knows "SIT" on command with a hand given sign. She is also crate trained/house broken. Did we mention how photogenic she is? :)
Sugar has true potential and would do well with a family or person who is familiar with the Rottweiler breed and would be interested and invested in fulfilling her true potential as an ambassador for the breed. We feel with the investment, Sugar would make an excellent candidate as a Therapy Dog!
All for the Love of Animals Pet Rescue, Inc. is a small Non-Profit, Tax Exempt family organization located on 50 acres in Upstate South Carolina.
Our current focus is to
RESCUE and place animals in immediate need, to REHABILITATE those in need of veterinary and/or behavioral assistance, and to RECRUIT the resources and support needed to carry on with our mission.
Working cohesively with potential adopters as well as previous adopters, our Approval/Adoption/Transportation process is designed with the ultimate goal of placing successful adoptions.
In addition to the animals listed on our web site, we always have additional animals on location currently going through rehabilitation (medical or behavioral) and basic training to get them ready for adoption as well as others who are considered special needs. Our rescue is also partnered with several shelters looking to remove their animals from the shelter system as opposed to euthanasia. If you do not see anything of interest on our web site, please consider submitting an application to be placed on file and we will be happy to assist you in your adoption search.
If you cannot adopt, but would like to become more involved with our rescue and it's rescue efforts, please "like" and "follow" us via our social networks to keep updated being sure to share our every posts, stay tuned for future campaigns that will assist our rescue efforts or please consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation via the DONATE tab of our web site! The only thing our rescue is lacking right now to operate on a larger scale is the support and funding needed toward putting programs (such as on location volunteer and obedience training programs) and projects (such as much needed fencing to enclose the remaining open, cleared acreage on the property) into place . We have have the room and love to offer and with you, we can can make our visions and dreams a reality one supporter at a time. :)
Thank you for offering your hearts and homes to these beautiful Angels!
